The World We Live In......

Friday, June 29, 2007

Car bombs found in London...... This the world we live in and I fear the darkest days may yet to come. The simple fact is the freedom we enjoy living in a democracy is also our greatest weakness when we face an unconventional, cowardly, and dedicated foe like the enemy we face.

The fact is that unless democracies can find a way to combat these threats without handing over our freedoms these evil individuals have already won. They know the weakness of our society... our love of freedom.

Unlike Washington politicians, these radicals do what they say they are going to do. When they declare war they mean war and they have no intention of stopping until our way of life, our freedoms are destroyed. There are a committed enemy and will use every cowardly tactic at their disposal. Because in their view none of us are innocent..... we are infidels.

People in Democratic societies have no inkling of the extent these individuals will go. And the failing of Americans in particular to see this plays into the tactics that Al Qaeda and other employ. They know that they don't have to defeat us with with might on the battlefield when they can cause us to defeat ourselves.

I remember clearly President Bush speaking in October 2001. I also remember thinking would America's commitment to the cause would last. As I feared it seemingly has not.

This is exactly what those men that brought down the World Trade Center were counting on. That if they could make it bloody enough, hard enough and last long enough, Americans would begin grow tired. To look to other options that have proven historical ineffective when dealing with these people. And worse give them yet another victory to parade among their comrades.

As I see it that is where we are. Exactly where Bin Laden wants us. He wants us tired. He and his ilk are relentless in pursuing that end. We need not forget that this band of radicals are from the same group that ran the great Soviet war machine from Afghanistan. An accomplishment they view with great pride. And an ominous portent when you consider that even the draconian tactics that the Soviets used failed to work against them.

Bin Laden even said when the USSR withdrew that they had defeated the "greatest" of the two superpowers. Eluding to the fact that America would be easy to destroy...... And there in lies their greatest mistake. These terror brokers might believe they know how destroy us, but do they? I suppose that if you base your opinion upon what you see coming out of this country through the media you could. But I see it different.

To the world we look like an arrogant, narcissistic nation. The media and entertainment industry sees to it daily that this message is conveyed, with stories about the Paris Hilton types, and the greed of America, the corruption in our government, and the general decline of morality present here. All the things that radical Islamic people love to hear, and use to fuel their cause.

But Bin Laden and crew have never been to places in America like Enigma, Georgia or Conetop, North Carolina. Khalid Sheik Muhammad never visited Miller City, Ohio or Petroleum, Indiana. If they did they would see something that would strike fear in their collective hearts..... Americans.

Men and women who aren't afraid to do what is right, no matter the cost. The silent backbone of this country. Folks that are as likely to open their door to a stranger as they are friends. The quiet majority that is happy with silence until you cross them, Then you hear the deafening roar of the immutable strength of this nation.... her common folks. The same folks that fought in every conflict since this nation was conceived and who's sons and daughters fight them today.

SO let Bin Laden and his apologists here and abroad believe they can defeat the United States. Let them think that we are weak and wrong. And they will find as others have found, it is no accident we are known as the "United" States of America.

My Man Mike

Thursday, June 28, 2007

Mike Pence (R) my Congressman, introduced legislation in the house today that would block funding for any attempt to revive the old fairness doctrine. It passed 310 to 15, the majority of dissenting votes being the House leadership.

Although this is somewhat a ceremonial piece of legal work it is nonetheless significant given the huge margin that it passed by. Additionally it has been reported that he has 100 cosponsors for a bill that would block any future Administration or Congress from bringing it back.

Personally, I think there is little chance the Fairness Doctrine will be instituted, if they try the result will be the same as the Grahamnesty Doctrine..... it will go down in flames.

No Grahamnesty

Grahamnesty failed to pass the Senate today....... nuff said. Now its up to the fine people of South Carolina to do there part and rid the Senate of a politician that has spent way too many years in Congress.

Hush Rush

Wednesday, June 27, 2007

Sure, why not? The liberals have a firm grasp on America's Colleges and the Old Media, why not AM Radio too? Boo Hoo .... Rush Limbaugh and his ilk control the AM airwaves and its not fair..... And revisiting the Fairness Doctrine is? Puhlease!

Its not conservative radios fault that Air America the heavily liberal subsidized enterprise tanked. And considering that the vast majority of people that listen to talk radio are conservatives why would you want to but a liberal radio show on it in the first place. Because it is not fair......boo hoo.

I wonder if this fairness doctrine if instituted will allow a New York Times headline that is not bent on destroying this administration, or will NBC allow Michael Savage to give editorials on the evening news? Something tells me no they won't. After all the main objective is to silence the dissenting voices, not promoting fairness.

Grahamnesty Update

Tuesday, June 26, 2007

The first battle went to Lindsey Grahamnesty and crew.... cloture passed with 64 votes. With cloture the Senate has effectively tabled any further discussion or modification to this bill until it is brought to vote. If this vote is indicative of the actual vote, then the battle with shift to the House of Representatives. But it appears according to a news bite on FOX that it isn't.

The report states that four of the 64 that voted for cloture have already flipped. They are complaining that the bill handlers are pushing them to the vote without allowing them a chance to voice their opinions and modifications. Hmmmm, seems that Senators don't like to be told to shut up anymore than we Americans do.....

Lugar the Loser

Today in what was trumpeted by the news media as a "major" defection, Senator Richard Lugar (R) called for a change in direction in Iraq.... well howdy do. The truth is the so called "staunch" support Mr. Lugar has provided the White House on Iraq has been little more than empathetic silence. Being one of my Senators I have followed Mr. Lugar's support of the Iraq conflict and have never heard a single sound bite he espoused either supporting or condemning the action..... that is until now.

He has called the "surge" a failure and is demanding a change in course but is careful to note complete withdrawal is not a viable option. "Surge".... I love how these words become embedded in our news media's psyche and are so overused there meaning dwindles away until all that is left is the visceral reaction garnered when one of these talking heads spits it out during a broadcast.

Marginalized and misunderstood the white flags are flying, the "surge" has failed, THE SURGE HAS FAILED!!! Idiots, the surge is nothing more than the flow of material and manpower to the point of conflict. If we have failed moving these resources to the Then way are all of the liberals whining about this division and that division being deployed or redeployed. The surge has not failed! The resources have made it to the conflict just fine..... Retards!

The surge isn't the point, what happens once the additional forces reach there intended destination is the point! And that operation is just newly underway. Perhaps you have read about it..... on page 20 of the New York Times, Or seen the the 10 second spot on NBC sandwiched somewhere among the hourly Baghdad bombing expose'.

Our Generals have barely given the order to move out and certain elements of this nation are throwing in the towel. That folks is why soldiering needs to be left to the soldiers. They are in the best position to know if this operation is working or not..... So lets let them.

Commonsense Prevails

Monday, June 25, 2007 0

Bad day for Judge Roy Pearson. I'm glad to see that not every judge in Washington is off their rockers. Its just sad that our legal system had to be subjected to the stupidity of this man. There is talk that he may possibly be facing disbarment our a very least losing his appointment. What ever happens I am just thankful this clown won't be in news anymore..... I hope. However I just heard that he is intending to appeal.....no kidding.

Costs of Illegals

Sunday, June 24, 2007 0

Allen County Indiana is in the process of trying an illegal, Simon Rios, for the murder and rape of 10-year-old Alejandra Gutierrez. The court requested an initial $250,000, and additional $420,000 has been added to try this case. It is estimated that Rios could cost the county anywhere from 1 to 1.5 million dollars. This is an example of what this immigration crisis costs the American taxpayer. Not to mention the cost of the innocent lives lost.

The prosecution's case is nearly airtight against this murdering thug, who by the way was already running from Mexico authorities. But I digress, the evidence against him is overwhelming. Because of the heinous nature of the murder the prosecutors are requesting Capital Punishment, hence the extra court expenses for capital defense attorneys since Rios has no means to hire his own. WE being the people are obligated by our constitution to provide representation to him. A point that citizen critics in this nation tend to marginalize when illegal immigration costs are raised.

Nonetheless Simon Rios will have a fair trail in the most just nation on earth. He will be provided not one but two capital defense attorneys and receive fair jurisprudence throughout his litigation. And all of this on the backs of the taxpayers.

Crickets Chirping.....

Saturday, June 23, 2007 0
For nearly three days I have been waiting for more than a 30 second sound bite from our glorious media on the offensive operations currently ongoing in Iraq. I for one have lost faith in the major networks and CNN to be balanced over the last few years regarding Iraq. I find myself compelled to follow the news solely on FOX and by checking Matt Drudge daily.

From my perspective it is clear that the anti-War opinion is not only prevalent in the dinosaur networks but fomented. And when recent statistics that reveal among 144 journalists donations to political campaigns were 9 to 1 in favor of liberal candidates I am hardly dissuaded from that point of view.

It angers me that the single most influential institution in our nation is perceptually biased. But not as angry as I get when I see American opinions swayed by these forces without so much as a thought of were what they are hearing is true. And in this day and age there is little excuse for it.

The Internet is the single greatest source of information ever available in the history of man. To take the word of some talking head on a video screen as gospel without questioning or researching the opposing views is nothing short of apathy. A disease that is running crazy in our nation.

Never before have so many had so much access to so much information. It is the 21st century and because the tools we have available there is no excuse for not verifying the reliability of what read, see and hear. Even when it seems to be the prevailing opinion......

Newt Gingrich Immigration Plan.....

Monday, June 18, 2007 0

Keep the 1986 Simpson-Mazzoli commitment and control the border. In The Reagan Diaries (HarperCollins, May 22, 2007), President Ronald Reagan wrote that he was going to sign the Simpson-Mazzoli bill because "it's high time we regained control of our borders and [this] bill will do this." For national security reasons, it is vital we regain control of our border. Congress should pass a narrowly written emergency border bill to finish the necessary fence in less than a year and to have complete border control within two years.

Announce an immediate shift of Internal Revenue Service resources to audit companies that are deliberately hiring people illegally. We do not have to focus on deporting those who want to work. We need to focus on the Americans who are getting richer by deliberately breaking our laws, hiring people illegally and failing to pay taxes. These people are cheating their own country. We should focus on fining and making it economically impractical for Americans to deliberately encourage law breaking. Economic penalties for knowingly hiring someone who is illegal should rise dramatically with each employer (including subcontractors) conviction, making it simply too expensive to cheat. This will eliminate the magnet of illegal jobs, will begin to diminish the flow of new illegal workers and will lead some illegal workers to return home voluntarily.

Outsource to American Express, Visa or MasterCard the job of building a real-time verification system so that honest companies can confirm the legal status of all workers and identify people with forged papers before they hire them as fast as your automatic teller machine identifies you and gives you money in a matter of seconds. We must distinguish between companies that deliberately hire illegal workers and companies that hire people who they believe are legal. It is the government's duty to help this second group of companies by providing a real-time verification system for identifying the legal status of all workers so that it is possible to screen out those with illegal documents. The government should outsource the creation of this system so that it is easy, fast and accurate.

Focus deportation efforts on criminals. Those who claim that opponents of the Bush-Kennedy-McCain bill support mass deportations are simply wrong. We want a system in which honest work is available for law-abiding workers and in which the natural attrition of declining job availability will reduce illegal behavior. However, there is one group that should be deported immediately, and the law should be modified to make it easy to do so. Criminals have no future in America. In every major city and increasingly in small cities and even small towns, gangs have become a problem and people feel a rising sense of insecurity. There are at least 30,000 illegal gang members now in the United States. The system should focus on deporting criminals so that people who are here illegally understand that breaking the law will get them deported immediately.

Cut off all federal aid to any city, county or state that refuses to investigate if a criminal is here illegally. These so-called "sanctuary cities" are in effect abetting the violation of American law and increasing the risk to honest, law-abiding Americans. They should be cut off from all federal aid if they refuse to help enforce federal law.

Offer intensive education in English to anyone who wants to learn English, and make English the official language of government. This will begin to reassert the commitment to assimilation and Americanization that has historically been part of legal immigration to America.

Ensure that becoming an American citizen requires passing a test on American history in English and giving up the right to vote in any other country.

Within the context of these proven changes, establish an economically driven temporary worker program like the Krieble Foundation proposals. Any temporary worker would have to pass a background check to ensure they are not a criminal, would have to give biometric information (retinal scan and thumbprint) for a special card that would be outsourced to American Express, MasterCard or Visa so it would be harder to defraud and counterfeit, and would have to sign a contract committing them to pay taxes and obey the law or be removed from the United States within two weeks without recourse to long court processes.

Create a special open-ended worker visa for high value workers who bring specialized education, entrepreneurial talent or capital that will grow the American economy and make America a more prosperous country.

Workers who came here illegally but have a good work relationship and community ties (including family), should have first opportunity to get the new temporary worker visas, but instead of paying penalties, they should be required to go home and get the visa at home. This way they are beginning their new career in America by obeying the law. It is amazing that those who advocate a large fine and the new Z visa, which would be administered in a hopelessly expedited manner, suggest that going home to get a new legal admission to the U.S. is somehow too complicated. If people can break the law by entering the county illegally, they should be able to obey the law and enter America legally.

YES, I'M A BAD AMERICAN
by: George Carlin

I Am Your Worst Nightmare. I am a BAD American. I am George Carlin.
I believe the money I make belongs to me and my family, not some mid level governmental functionary be it Democratic or Republican!
I'm in touch with my feelings and I like it that way!
I think owning a gun doesn't make you a killer, it makes you a smart American.
I think being a minority does not make you noble or victimized, and does not entitle you to anything.
I believe that if you are selling me a Big Mac, do it in English.
I believe everyone has a right to pray to his or her God when and where they want to.
My heroes are John Wayne, Babe Ruth, Roy Rogers, and whoever canceled Jerry Springer.
I don't hate the rich. I don't pity the poor.
I know wrestling is fake and I don't waste my time watching or arguing about it.
I've never owned a slave, or was a slave, I haven't burned any witches or been persecuted by the Turks and neither have you! So, shut up already.
I believe if you don't like the way things are here, go back to where you came from and change your own country! This is AMERICA .
I want to know which church is it exactly where the Reverend Jesse Jackson preaches, where he gets his money, and why he is always part of the problem and not the solution. Can I get an AMEN on that one?
I think the cops have every right to shoot your sorry rear if you're running from them..
I also think they have the right to pull you over if you're breaking the law, regardless of what color you are.
And, no, I don't mind having my face shown on my drivers license. I think it's good..... and I'm proud that "God" is written on my money.
I think if you are too stupid to know how a ballot works, I don't want you deciding who should be running the most powerful nation in the world for the next four years.
I dislike those people standing in the intersections trying to sell me stuff or trying to guilt me into making "donations" to their cause.
I believe that it doesn't take a village to raise a child, it takes two parents.
And what is going on with gas prices... again?
I believe "illegal" is illegal no matter what the lawyers think.
I believe the American flag should be the only one allowed in AMERICA !
If this makes me a BAD American, then yes, I'm a BAD American.

Saturday, June 16, 2007 0
Twenty five years ago I today I was sleeping in a basic training barracks on an USAF base in San Antonio Texas. I didn't know it at the time but I was about to embark on a life changing experience that would shape my morals and character for the rest of my life. It is difficult to make those who have never served this country understand the indelible imprint that even a short time in the military leaves upon your life. Let alone spending the numerous years I have.

The first and most lasting lesson that is driven into your psyche is that you are part of something larger than yourself. You begin to realize that your performance directly impacts the welfare of those around you. That the choices that you make effect positively or adversely the ability of your unit to accomplish its purpose. You face the epiphany that there is more to your existence that simply yourself.

It really fires me up that uniformed foolish people in this country suggest that this bad, that is a form of "brainwashing". It amazes me that that these individuals are oft times people who have served nothing but their own self interest all their lives. Therefore I don't harbor ill of them I actually pity them. They have no idea how liberating and rewarding it is to put the good of the many before the good of the one.

This nation used to be a nation of people that did just that. But, I fear that our generation has lost its way in respect to that. We no longer look at ourselves as what we can contribute; conversely it appears to be only what we can take. Americans are becoming selfish, and that is very saddening.

The selfishness and self centeredness of this nation will be our undoing. The only people on the face of the earth with power to destroy America are Americans. A self fulfilling prophesy if the present trend does not change. If we don’t wake up and realize what I realized twenty five years ago today.

Why Numbers Don't Lie....

Thursday, June 14, 2007 0

A recent poll revealed the top cities in the U.S. for one person per vehicle commuting. At the top of the list was Canton, Ohio. Number was the city in which I work Fort Wayne, Indiana. In fact the top ten were all medium sized cities in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan and one in Wisconsin. Only one major city made the list, Detroit. Hardly surprising being it is the "Motor City".

At cursory glance it sounds like sound condemnation against the "red state hicks". A point which a local politician (and failed democratic congressional candidate) seized to express his dissatisfaction with the local communities lack of "green initiatives". But not so fast Sunshine.

First, the numbers used are percentage per capitia, hardly an indictment against the gas guzzling, environmentally unfriendly, SUV driving citizenry of our community. If you do the math the 85% Fort Wayne scored equates to 50.000 or so single occupant vehicles commuting. Contrast that with with several hundreds of thousands that commute into the Chicago area and it makes this poll seem pretty silly. In Fact the top five cities on this poll combined have less single occupant commuters combined than the entire L.A. area.

Second, Fort Wayne is not exactly a Mecca of public transportation. There is no public rail system running from the community I live to where I work. Nor do I have anyone living near me with that is employed with my company. The old girl works in Fort Wayne but we work different hours. SO what are my options here?

I wonder what this poll is really meant to illustrate....

Legal Nonsense.....

There is judge in DC suing a Korean dry cleaners for 54 million dollars because they lost his favorite pair of pants. I don't care how objectively you look at his case this guy needs booted from the bench. It would sad enough if this guy was just some citizen, but he's a judge! It is very unlikely that he will win the proposed judgement, so why is he even bothering. Is this the sad commentary of our contemporary society, we will sue each other over the most trivial issues. Hey! The fast food restaurant messed up my order, I am suing! You have just got to shake your head.

His argument is that the cleaners had a sign stating "satisfaction guaranteed" and that he was not satisfied. Even though they offered to pay him for the lost item and actually by accounts were willing offer him several thousand dollars to make him happy. But there in lies the rub. You can't make a guy like this happy. I don't know the guy, but based on his actions he seems like a gentleman that is only happy when he is making someone else miserable. After all he is a judge.

Just another stain upon the greatest legal system in the world. And whats worse these types of travesties are common. And people wonder why us folks believe there is no justice in the legal system and why we need God......

The Dead Has Risen.....Again

Tuesday, June 12, 2007 0
The Presidente' had a luncheon with top republican lawmakers today regarding the recently defunct immigration bill. I will be interested to see just what in the way of changes they could offer to resurrect this bad piece of legislation. I agree with our top politician that reform is needed, I differ that it involves allowing 12 million illegal immigrants a path to citizenship that will be nothing more than a bureaucratic nightmare. The rest of legislation is tolerable…. If not wordy, well what can you expect from a Senator named Kennedy anyhow?

What the hell is so difficult and politically incorrect about building a fence anyhow? I have a fence around my yard. Military installations have fences; even the White House has a fence. And these fences are here just to keep fellow Americans out. I mean Lord help us for wanting a fence to keep “illegal people” out. It just makes no sense. It’s not about race, it’s about security. It’s about securing our borders to keep out the small percentage of border crossers that do not have our best interest at heart.

It’s just too bad we didn’t have a fence back when NAFTA (aka SHAFTA) was approved….. Maybe that would have kept Ford and GM from getting out…..

Fade to Black...

Monday, June 11, 2007 0

I "was" ..... no I still am a huge Sopranos fan. But last nights finale was positively one of the worst episodes of the series. I thought it left too many loose ends and generated far more questions than it answered. And as for the "fade to black" it was like me....

After a Long Hiatus..... He has returned

Yep, the old boy has been gone from the web for awhile. Used to have me one of those new fangled web sites, but I just let the weeds grow too high on it and decided to shut er down. Now I am back and decided to give this blogging deal a shot. My thought for this here blog is to post opinions on things that I hold near and dear. Which could be just about anything I hear, read, see or experince. So sit back and get ready to hear some rantin' and ravin'.......
