The Dallas Solution

I have a friend who is president of his homeowners association in the Dallas , Texas suburbs. They were having a terrible problem with litter near some of his association's homes. The reason according to Wallace (my friend) is that six very large, luxurious new houses are being built right next to their community.The trash was coming from the Mexican laborers working at the construction sites and included bags from McDonald's, Burger King and 7-11, plus coffee cups, napkins, cigarette butts, coke cans, empty bottles, etc.

He went to see the site supervisor and even the general contractor, politely urging them to get their workers not to litter the neighborhood, to no avail. He called the city, county, and police and got no help there either. So here's what his community did.

They organized about twenty folks, named themselves The "Inner Neighborhood Services" group, and arranged to go out at lunch time and "police" the trash themselves. It is what they did while picking up the trash that is so hilarious.

They bought navy blue baseball caps and had the initials "INS" embroidered in gold on the caps. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand what they hoped people might mistakenly think the letters really stand for. After the Inner Neighborhood Services group's first lunch time pickup detail, with all of them wearing their caps and some carrying cameras, 46 out of the total of 68 construction workers did not show up for work the next morning -- and haven't come back yet.

It has been ten days now. The General Contractor, I'm told, is madder than hell, but can't say anything publicly because he could be busted for hiring illegal aliens. Wallace and his bunch can't be accused of impersonating federal personnel, because they have the official name of the group recordedin their homeowner association minutes along with a notation about the vote to approve formation of the new subcommittee -- and besides, they informed the INS in advance of their plans and according to Wallace, the INS said basically, "Have at it!"

Fred Thompson is the only candidate that has the stones to define amnesty as most of us here in flyover country. Amnesty is any policy that allows those who are breaking the laws of this nation to stay in this country........

Fight the Law, The Law Wins

Elvira Arellano was arrested and deported. After her and her lawless friends thumbed their noses at ICE for over a year she was arrested while attempting to attend an immigration rally in LA. Chalk one up for the good guys and Americans that still believe that laws are necessary.

This debate over immigration is a winner for which ever candidate seizes it. Guiliana has made some strong anti-illegal immigration statements, and so has 2nd tier candidates Tancredo and Hunter. On the Democrat side, they have been unsurprisingly mute.

Americans all across the United States are sick of feeling that they are losing their country. That is it in a nutshell. DO we want to stop immigration totally, of course not. We want to stop the illegal invasion of our country.

We are tired of going into Wal-marts in certain cities in this nation and not being able to understand the cashiers when they speak. We are tired of illegal immigrant thugs harming and killing our people. We are tired of prisons being filled to overflowing with these men and women. And we are tired of the Federal government sitting on their hands and pandering to special interest pro-amnesty immigration groups.

I have worked with immigrants from Central America, some I suspect were illegal. For the most part they are good hard working people. I have no quarter them. I do have problems with them being here illegally when their are thousands of people trying to come here legally, going through the government system of jump rope for years, making the investment of time and effort to be a legal citizen. Why should I let illegals have a free pass?

The proponents of amnesty say its impossible to deport them all, It is the kind thing to do, It will cost to much to deport them, and my personal favorite - what have they really done that is "illegal"? They broke our LAW, that is what! Pretty much defined illegal in my opinion.

Again this illness of relativism has infected a good portion of the citizens of this nation. You get by the word illegal by calling them "undocumented", you get bay the law by saying, "we lured them here with jobs". I am willing to concede the latter is true, but only because the 1986 Simpson Bill did not enforce the law which said companies could be held accountable for hiring illegal workers. That is changing.

As for Elvira Arellano. see was deported once and returned, that is felony. She used false documents to obtain a job at Ohare Airport. She ignored immigration enforcement action by hiding in a "sanctuary" in Chicago for over one year. And this the face of your movement? I think your movement needs a face lift.

A Friend's Son

I used to work for a foreign national from Denmark. He has a son that has been trying for 10 years to become a naturalized citizen. To date he is still trying. Recently he came to visit the "Old Sage" to ask me advice about joining the Army.

I was struck by the fact that he was kid living in this country, came here legally, lives here legally and is seriously considering volunteering joining our armed services..... in the middle of a war ...... yet he's been unable to become a naturalized citizen.

We discussed a lot of things during his visit about the military and it became apparent to me that he was more of a patriot than 90% of kids his age born in the U.S. I wondered how he felt concerning the bill that was making its way through Congress... the answer was in Danish and not fit for print and rightly so. The fact that here is a young man that genuinely is seeking to become part of this great nation and can't because of our screwed up immigration law is a travesty.

No Grahamnesty

Grahamnesty failed to pass the Senate today....... nuff said. Now its up to the fine people of South Carolina to do there part and rid the Senate of a politician that has spent way too many years in Congress.

Grahamnesty Update

The first battle went to Lindsey Grahamnesty and crew.... cloture passed with 64 votes. With cloture the Senate has effectively tabled any further discussion or modification to this bill until it is brought to vote. If this vote is indicative of the actual vote, then the battle with shift to the House of Representatives. But it appears according to a news bite on FOX that it isn't.

The report states that four of the 64 that voted for cloture have already flipped. They are complaining that the bill handlers are pushing them to the vote without allowing them a chance to voice their opinions and modifications. Hmmmm, seems that Senators don't like to be told to shut up anymore than we Americans do.....

Costs of Illegals

Allen County Indiana is in the process of trying an illegal, Simon Rios, for the murder and rape of 10-year-old Alejandra Gutierrez. The court requested an initial $250,000, and additional $420,000 has been added to try this case. It is estimated that Rios could cost the county anywhere from 1 to 1.5 million dollars. This is an example of what this immigration crisis costs the American taxpayer. Not to mention the cost of the innocent lives lost.

The prosecution's case is nearly airtight against this murdering thug, who by the way was already running from Mexico authorities. But I digress, the evidence against him is overwhelming. Because of the heinous nature of the murder the prosecutors are requesting Capital Punishment, hence the extra court expenses for capital defense attorneys since Rios has no means to hire his own. WE being the people are obligated by our constitution to provide representation to him. A point that citizen critics in this nation tend to marginalize when illegal immigration costs are raised.

Nonetheless Simon Rios will have a fair trail in the most just nation on earth. He will be provided not one but two capital defense attorneys and receive fair jurisprudence throughout his litigation. And all of this on the backs of the taxpayers.

Newt Gingrich Immigration Plan.....

Keep the 1986 Simpson-Mazzoli commitment and control the border. In The Reagan Diaries (HarperCollins, May 22, 2007), President Ronald Reagan wrote that he was going to sign the Simpson-Mazzoli bill because "it's high time we regained control of our borders and [this] bill will do this." For national security reasons, it is vital we regain control of our border. Congress should pass a narrowly written emergency border bill to finish the necessary fence in less than a year and to have complete border control within two years.

Announce an immediate shift of Internal Revenue Service resources to audit companies that are deliberately hiring people illegally. We do not have to focus on deporting those who want to work. We need to focus on the Americans who are getting richer by deliberately breaking our laws, hiring people illegally and failing to pay taxes. These people are cheating their own country. We should focus on fining and making it economically impractical for Americans to deliberately encourage law breaking. Economic penalties for knowingly hiring someone who is illegal should rise dramatically with each employer (including subcontractors) conviction, making it simply too expensive to cheat. This will eliminate the magnet of illegal jobs, will begin to diminish the flow of new illegal workers and will lead some illegal workers to return home voluntarily.

Outsource to American Express, Visa or MasterCard the job of building a real-time verification system so that honest companies can confirm the legal status of all workers and identify people with forged papers before they hire them as fast as your automatic teller machine identifies you and gives you money in a matter of seconds. We must distinguish between companies that deliberately hire illegal workers and companies that hire people who they believe are legal. It is the government's duty to help this second group of companies by providing a real-time verification system for identifying the legal status of all workers so that it is possible to screen out those with illegal documents. The government should outsource the creation of this system so that it is easy, fast and accurate.

Focus deportation efforts on criminals. Those who claim that opponents of the Bush-Kennedy-McCain bill support mass deportations are simply wrong. We want a system in which honest work is available for law-abiding workers and in which the natural attrition of declining job availability will reduce illegal behavior. However, there is one group that should be deported immediately, and the law should be modified to make it easy to do so. Criminals have no future in America. In every major city and increasingly in small cities and even small towns, gangs have become a problem and people feel a rising sense of insecurity. There are at least 30,000 illegal gang members now in the United States. The system should focus on deporting criminals so that people who are here illegally understand that breaking the law will get them deported immediately.

Cut off all federal aid to any city, county or state that refuses to investigate if a criminal is here illegally. These so-called "sanctuary cities" are in effect abetting the violation of American law and increasing the risk to honest, law-abiding Americans. They should be cut off from all federal aid if they refuse to help enforce federal law.

Offer intensive education in English to anyone who wants to learn English, and make English the official language of government. This will begin to reassert the commitment to assimilation and Americanization that has historically been part of legal immigration to America.

Ensure that becoming an American citizen requires passing a test on American history in English and giving up the right to vote in any other country.

Within the context of these proven changes, establish an economically driven temporary worker program like the Krieble Foundation proposals. Any temporary worker would have to pass a background check to ensure they are not a criminal, would have to give biometric information (retinal scan and thumbprint) for a special card that would be outsourced to American Express, MasterCard or Visa so it would be harder to defraud and counterfeit, and would have to sign a contract committing them to pay taxes and obey the law or be removed from the United States within two weeks without recourse to long court processes.

Create a special open-ended worker visa for high value workers who bring specialized education, entrepreneurial talent or capital that will grow the American economy and make America a more prosperous country.

Workers who came here illegally but have a good work relationship and community ties (including family), should have first opportunity to get the new temporary worker visas, but instead of paying penalties, they should be required to go home and get the visa at home. This way they are beginning their new career in America by obeying the law. It is amazing that those who advocate a large fine and the new Z visa, which would be administered in a hopelessly expedited manner, suggest that going home to get a new legal admission to the U.S. is somehow too complicated. If people can break the law by entering the county illegally, they should be able to obey the law and enter America legally.
