Dow Ow!

Thursday, July 26, 2007
The Dow Jones crosses 14,000 and the crickets chirp across all the major news outlets. But let the market shed 500 points over two days and you'd think the world was on the brink of ending. Just another example of why more and more people are turning off their nightly news and looking elsewhere.

Percentage wise this doesn't count as a market correction. Corrections normally are a 10% or more drop, this drop was shy of 4%. And even after the drop the DOW is still up over 8% for the year. A great yearly gain and the year is barely half over.

The bottom line is that pessimist look at the drop as a sign of something bad. Which is the reason the press goes nuts over it. Its bad news. And they are the masters of airing bad news.
